Streaming to AirPort Express

Hi all. Searching this forum didn't quite answer my question so here goes.
I have an AS5004T with Itune server installed. On my Iphone I have Remote installed and using the airplay to stream to my Airport that is connectet to my amplifier. Question is, with this setup is the stream going directly from NAS to the airport, or is the Iphone in the middle?
