Having problems under windows 8.1 64bit with the app not updating, and when closed remaining running and using 10-15% cpu.

sorry for poor post (I could have sworn i put in the details, have edited the thread title).
It refers to download center and it stops updating what is happening in realtime on the nas with regard to downloads. If I then try and close it it drops off the processes list in windows task manager and only shows up in the details tab where its cpu useage has jumped to 10-15%.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. It got so bad I switched to torrentwatchx and transmission remote (both of which work nicely with the transmission daemon on the nas).
