ADM Upgrade 2.6.6.RCF2

Postby steamship » Wed Dec 21, 2016 4:47 am

Just logged into my NAS and it has a prompt saying there is a new update of the ADM available, 2.6.6.RCF2. I clicked on the 'Release Notes' and read them, and one of the first things in the installation notes states:

'This is the software for the AS10xx series.'

The only reference I can find on the forum for 2.6.6.RCF2 is the following post:

viewtopic.php?f=29&t=8483

and that specifically deals with a VPN server not working.

What I want to know before proceeding is if it is safe to run this update, and that possibly the PDF reference to 'AS10xx' is just bad proof-reading.

I'm thinking bad proof reading, but I haven't installed it for the same reason.

And none of the issues this addresses are anything I'm experiencing....

The release notes for ADM 2.6.6.RCF2 have been corrected. The reference to 'AS10xx series' has been removed.

A post by Vera.W@AST in 'Home ‹ General ‹ Announcements' about the 2.6.6.RCF2 release doesn't mention anything about 'AS10xx series'.

Curiously, the release notes accompanying the push notification are dated Nov. 7, 2016.

Judging from Asustors general attitude to documentation, I'd have to say that they don't value proof reading very highly.

I believe the update was intended for all models. It's installed on my AS-204TE now and (so far) it hasn't burst into flames.

Many thanks. Might just run my full backup ahead of schedule and then run the update.
