OpenVPN Client and Port Fail

Does anyone know if OpenVPN is safe to use with the Port Fail bug? I have VPN from PIA (waiting from their Tier 2 support, which may take some time) and was wondering if anyone knows here. PIA tier 1 says they dont support NAS, but that just seems silly. I'm hoping the bug isnt fixed only if you use their client on a PC.
