at this point i would have to point the finger pretty much at the nas, but can't think what to do to track it down but if you get the performance hit no matter how connected and with a variety of clients it does seem to be nas related.

I tend to agree, although it could be the router. Not sure how though. The frustrating bit is that the Synology I had before went like a rocket. I thought I was upgrading when I got the ASUSTOR...
