WAN IP Address

My AS-608T is running behind a NAT, but it has full knowledge of the real WAN IP address.

What mechanism is being used to determine the WAN IP from behind the NAT? Is it connecting to a private server to obtain WAN information - I'm looking for specific details?

Hi Jim,

Yes, the NAS will obtain the WAN IP from a public website. There are many websites who provide this kind of service.

Which public web site is Asustor is using in the AS6xx code?
Where in the code does this get specified - Is this a user configuration setting like the time server setting?

We use the following websites to obtain the WAN IP address.

http://ip.changeip.com/
http://checkip.dyndns.org/
http://ip1.dynupdate.no-ip.com/

And sorry, there's no way to modify this.
