Transferring Data

Hi

Invariably when someone buys a new NAS they are either upgrading or they are first time users but they still need to transfer data to the NAS.

My experience was upgrading and I used the windows explorer facility to do this. I would have used your file explorer and upload facility but this only allowed individual files to be opened and uploaded.

What would you consider to be best practice for this initial procedure?

In my personal opinion, the most intuitive way to transfer data to NAS that is map a network drive

Hi GA,

If you would like to upgrade your NAS (let's say "X") to an ASUSTOR NAS, and transfer the data from X to the ASUSTOR NAS, I would suggest using the built-in backup feature of ADM. Here are the steps:

1. Enable FTP server function on X. Most NAS devices should support this feature.
2. Login to ADM, go to [Backup & Restore] > [FTP Backup]
3. Create a new backup job and choose [FTP Server -> Your NAS]. This enables the "pull backup" which can pull the data from X to the ASUSTOR NAS.
