TVheadend with DVB-S2-USB-Stick -> Best (working) setup -> Native, Docker, Linux Center, VirtualBox

Post by earlyfrog666 »

Hi experts,

I'm pretty new in the ASUSTOR (AS-6706T) domain and trying to figure out the best set ups for my requirements. I'm running a plex server which works fine. Now I'm trying to add satellite TV via a NOVA-S2-USB-stick (similar to PCTV 461e). I'm in general able to passthrough hardware under Linux, however the ASUSTOR Linux seems to be a bit special and I don't know if there's a general chance to get that done on my NAS (Hauppauge provides linux drivers)?

If yes, what would be the most promising approach:
1. Native TVheadend app -> how to I make the USB-stick available?
2. Docker -> setting up TVheadend in docker is easy -> how to access USB-stick?
3. VirtualBox -> Hardware passthrough possible?
4. Linux center with Debian distribution -> hardware passthrough possible?

Any ideas / hints / links whether hardware access / passthrough is possible on my NAS? If yes, should any of the above options work? If yes, any suggestions which one to try first?

Thx for your help!

Kind regards
EarlyFrog
