Old HDDs in New 7004T?

Post by Saltrams »

I had a 6104 for about 3 weeks before it died. I chose a 7104 as the replacement. Will it work to put the 2 HDDs (each 4Tb in mirrored array) that were set up & working on the 6104 straight into the new NAS without having to format them & set up AMD anew, please?

That's one of Asustor's biggest strengths. You can upgrade to a newer model by just taking your old Asustor initialized drives from an older model and swap them into the newer model. All of your data is still there. You may have to upgrade any installed apps, since the CPU changes, and some apps are different, based on the CPU...

I've done this several times, and it has worked flawlessly every time.

That is 100% the answer that I wanted to hear. I knew that drives were interchangeable for things like Archive bays but wasn't sure about this circumstance. Very grateful, thank you.
