Hi,
For my NAS AS-604T, I'm previously running on default 1GB RAM, since I bought it 2 weeks ago. I have upgraded to 3GB RAM, adding in the Asustor branded AD3S133C2G9-BELZ.
On 1GB - memory utilisation is roughly constant around 275MB.
When upgraded to 3GB - memory utilisation is constantly around 2.1GB.
Is this a norm?

Re: AS-604T Memory Upgrade - High Utilisation
my 608 shows
Total 2.93 GB
Used: 1.21 GB
Free: 1.72 GB
so I would say it's not a norm and probably varies with circumstances

Hi ho66es,
Thank you for the kind reply.
Checked on the application memory resources in used and its merely about 200mb.
I do understand that NAS may have some form of caching capabilities that are done on available memory resources and hope your "varies with circumstances" is solely this reason and not unknown services holding on the available resources.

my 608T shows
Total :2.93GB
Used: 440.80MB
Free: 2.50GB
if I enable Boxee, used memory will goes to about 690MB
what's your ADM version? i'm using the latest one 1.0.9R4U1
maybe you can use TOP to monitor what kind of process is running on your NAS?

Hi Chinbo
Thanks for sharing.
Probably this NAS has some forms of caching behaviour.
I'm also on latest ADM too. Did further testing today.
Behaviour is upon initial boot up, memory usage gradually utilised hit around 2gb (suspect caching behaviour). Somehow, continue with some tasks of ongoing file transfer... memory utilisation dropped to around 1gb.
Hmmm....

You can upgrade your NAS up to 3GB. Asustor recommends the following memory:
http://www.asustor.com/service/memory?id=memory

Since 07/2023: Asustor AS6702T, (2 x Seagate IronWolf 12TB, RAID 1)
Old: Asustor AS-604RS, ADM 3.1.2.RHG1 (4 x WD Red WD30EFRX 3TB, RAID 5)
