Question about btrfs and system migration

Post by ace106 »

I have a 6604T and I'm about to set it up but I'd like to know if it is possible to transfer drives using btrfs from this nas system to something newer if I want to upgrade or to even the same model down the road if this one dies?

I read on this page here about system migration:

https://www.asustor.com/online/College_topic?topic=343

At the bottom it say "The btrfs hard drives cannot migrate to the AS10/AS-2/AS-3/AS-6 series."

So I'm confused by that statement found on that page. If I can't just place drives in a different nas in the future due to using btrfs then perhaps it might be best to go with ext4 to avoid any issues. Anyone have any experience with system migration and btrfs that could shed some light on this?

Those models are very old. And it seems that the CPU on those models is 32-bit core. I think you can ignore the statement.
