upgrade from as6102t to as6602+6102t

Post by spikey1973 »

hey you all,

i have been the happy owner of a as6102 for 5 years now but am considering a upgrade to the as660Xt series.

I bow only need a 2bay nas, but since no one knows what the future hold i was considering a 4bay.
but then found out about the existence of expansion bays.. so i was thinking.. if i keep my 6102 would i be able to use this as a future expansion bay to a 6602 at a later stage?

anyone has any experience with adding a nas as expansion bay option?

kind greatings...

Yes, you can use AS6004U (USB interface) to expand NAS capacity. The only thing you need to take a note is that you cannot mix internal disks with AS6004U disks to form a volume.

@Orion,

Thank you for your answer. unfortunately it isn't the answer i intend to ask. i understand that i can extend with as6004u. but can i also use my old as6102t to extend.

I must admit, that even though i am sure still interested in the answer i did opt to buy the 6604t.

kind greats

Depends what you need. You can mount the old data volumes of as6102 to the new NAS. So you can access your old data from the new NAS. But you'll still need to do all the setups (users, shares, apps) on the new NAS.
