Best way to connect media server

Is it better to connect nas directly to tv with hdmi or over the Ethernet?

"Media server" should not be related to HDMI interface. If you plan to install a media player on NAS, you should connect your NAS to TV through HDMI interface. However, I believe the player capability is related to your NAS hardware. If you own and are familiar with a media player device, you should use this device to connect to your NAS media server through network.
