Hello,

Reading the HCL for the AS4004T, I find compatibility for the HGST HUS726T6TALE6L4 (Ultrastar 7K6) that uses 512e.
I would like to know if I could use the HUS726T6TALN6L4 variant that uses 4KN.
Is there any perceivable performance between 512e and 4KN drives?
Will I lose any support benefits from Asustor if I opt for the 4KN variant?

It's hard to say. HCL is the list that they tested. Others do not mean failed. You can contact to asustor to see if they is going to test this model.

After reading a few HCL threads I came across at least one topic (viewtopic.php?f=28&t=9919) that shows the specifications of IronWolf HDDs.
One of the fields is labeled "4k native hard disk".
If Asustor software can list this attribute, surely they must support this feature.

I reached out to Asustor support and hope they reply in time before I buy either the 512e or the 4kn variant.

Just an update regarding this issue.

Asustor support did acknowledge their support for 4kn drives.

Obviously, they discarded official support for my specific model (HUS726T6TALN6L4) but at least I am contempt in knowing Asustor is steadily progressing and supporting current industry standards.

Running fine for the past few weeks.
