Is anyone using normal pc hdd with asustor NAS. Will it work fine?
Is anyone using normal pc hdd with asustor NAS. Will it work fine? I will be using it only for back ups and few hours of streaming?

From what I heard, typically enterprise grade drives are designed to withstand vibrations (many HDDs stacked together). It should still be OK to use desktop drives in NAS but I would go for ones that provides longer warranty, hence NAS drives.

I used old WD Blacks for a couple of years without issue, which were already another couple of years old at the time of installation. I only replaced them recently with SSDs due to the (completely normal) noise of the drives being an issue as a result of moving the NAS to the living room.

I used desktop hdd around 6 years without issue.
