I want to do a backup of my data on my AS-202T to an external disk but I can't see how to keep the last backup. Is there another app that would run locally that would allow me to keep the current and previous backup? I do not want to run anything from a PC, I want the NAS to do this itself.

create two backups in two different directories on your external disk, and schedule them alternatively.
