newbie help pls re video playback

Hi guys,sorry for such a simple question im sure but im having awful trouble playing back avi files when i log in remotely to my nas (or at home on my network for that matter) i have mainly two types of small video clip files on my nas mp4 and avi........i can view the mp4 files no problem but the avi files,even after ive converted to mp4 using my conversion software i still get "file format not supported message".......the most annoying aspect though is my friend who also uses my nas to view the files is able to watch them fine! I have vlc player installed and it is selected as the default player on my laptop but still no joy.

Do you apply LooksGood to play the video? If your friend can play the same video without problems, that should be caused by your PC's configuration. I think you can try to remove and re-install VLC Web Plugin. You can use Firefox to check if the plug-in is enabled and functioning fine (Firefox -> Menu -> Add-ons).
