Question about Cloud Syncing

I know the Asustor can host its own cloud server. I wanted to know how file syncing works.

We have a ton of files, many of them large, that I want everyone to be able to access anytime. But I don't want it to completely fill the harddrives of their computers. But I'd still like it to use local caching and background syncing so that working within a folder or on a large file is responsive and quick.
