FTP Backup Utility - Directory Structure Problem

Post by n2vwz »

I'm trying to transfer approximately 3TB of data from my old ReadyNAS NV to my new AS-608T.

I set up a backup job with the FTP Backup Utility to perform the transfer. The problem that I'm having is that I'm unable to get the files to transfer to the desired destination directory.

ReadyNAS Source:
/Media/Movies

Desired AS-608T Destination:
/Media/Movies

Resulting AS-608T Destination:
/Media/Media/Movies

I am getting an extra undesired "Media" directory. Is there a way around this?

There should be a method of selecting only the directory of interest from the source rather than the whole directory tree. There should also be a choice of "." or "/" in the destination menu in addition to the default shares.

Hi Jim,

FTP backup is mainly designed for data backup, therefore, it will keep the full path in order to remain the original folder structure. We will soon release a real FTP utility along with the new firmware (ADM 2.0) which should satisfy your need.

What is the time frame for ADM 2.0 release?

Meanwhile, I've found that I can "Drag and Drop" the target sub-directory up one level without rewriting the entire directory. This allows me to quickly move the "Movies" sub-directory to the top Media directory and then delete the lower Media directory after it is emptied.

You may expect to see an early beta this month.

And yes, File Explorer is for file management and it does support drag-n-drop for copy/move, you can easily manage your files/folders there.
