Control Center cannot find connected NAS (SOLVED)

I am a beginner and I do not know how to combine NAS drive in Windows 10 /PC network. I have new installed Windows 10, old Austor 202-TE NAS. The NAS RJ45 is installed in 2 network card slot on the PC; I use another network card slot on the Internet. I can’t connect to NAS http://192.168.1.168:8000/ after factory reset when I pressed the reset button. My Windows network settings are ”default” IP: 169.254.1.1 and subnet mask 255.255.0.0. In Windows 10 network looks to me AS-2020-TE-E82F drive and I see my folders. Asustor Control Center cannot find connected NAS. What is the best way fix my problem?

169.254.1.1 is APIPA assigned by Windows if your network adapter is setup to use DHCP but was unable to reach it.

You should connect your NAS to the same router spare port or switch where your PC is connected for the internet. This is the ideal setup.

But if your router has no spare port or extended switch, you can make do with the current setup except you need to set the 1st network adapter to share its internet connection with the 2nd network adapter. This will allow the NAS to access both internet and PC only. To do this, go to the network folder, right click, properties, right click on the 1st network adapter, properties. Then click on the sharing tab, select the 2nd network adapter to share its internet with.

Ps: I'm replying off my mind and mobile so those are roughly the steps needed.

I know that this is ideal basic setup: same router PC and NAS. I use NAS to backup raw photos. I don’t need a NAS feature to access the Internet or the Internet to access my NAS drive. The large size of raw images viewed and downloaded is otherwise slow remotely.

But my original problem and simple solution: I did't get the ping country of my NAS drive

The solution was Windows 10 Defender firewall which blocked the Asustor Control Panel sw. The NAS drive appears in the file manager, but the IP address is not pinged. Easy repair Windows 10 was
firewall > Allow applications to communicate through Windows Defender Firewall > check Control Center The Win10 firewall default is uncheck.

I don’t know why this Windows 10 firewall tip hadn’t been told on the Asustor website or guide before...

Thanks for this. I had the exact same problem although there was a minor difference. When navigating to ....firewall > Allow applications to communicate through Windows Defender Firewall >, Asustor control centre didn't appear in my apps list at all. Can't imagine why not, the installer should have put it there.

Anyway, I manually added it, and immediately my NAS shows up in control centre. Thank you oh7lua.
