Sending files from laptop to Asustor AS5304T (Wired method)

Post by andy8 »

Hi,

I am currently sending files from my laptop to folders inside File Explorer interface in AS5304T (wireless, which is the
usual method for most people I assume).

I was just wondering if it may be possible to send files, via a wired connection straight from my laptop to my NAS ? For example, apart from
just connecting the Ethernet from NAS to my laptop, are there any other forms of high speed-wired file transfers possible ?

Please share any methods/steps with me, as I am trying to send files at a faster rate (it is quite slow at the moment for me).

Thanks :)

The simplest way is to connect both your laptop and NAS to the Wifi router (or switch) with a LAN cable. That way your router DHCP would do its job automatically for you. If you insist on directly connecting the laptop to the NAS via LAN cable, you either setup DHCP (let either device becomes a router) or setup static IP (many online examples i.e. https://gizarena.com/connect-synology-n ... -ethernet/).
