The lines representing the AS6004U are these:

Bus 002 Device 005: ID 174c:55aa ASMedia Technology Inc.:Name: ASM1051E SATA 6Gb/s bridge, ASM1053E SATA 6Gb/s bridge, ASM1153 SATA 3Gb/s bridge, ASM1153E SATA 6Gb/s bridge
Bus 002 Device 007: ID 174c:55aa ASMedia Technology Inc.:Name: ASM1051E SATA 6Gb/s bridge, ASM1053E SATA 6Gb/s bridge, ASM1153 SATA 3Gb/s bridge, ASM1153E SATA 6Gb/s bridge
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 174c:3074 ASMedia Technology Inc.:ASM1074 SuperSpeed hub
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 174c:55aa ASMedia Technology Inc.:Name: ASM1051E SATA 6Gb/s bridge, ASM1053E SATA 6Gb/s bridge, ASM1153 SATA 3Gb/s bridge, ASM1153E SATA 6Gb/s bridge
Bus 002 Device 006: ID 174c:55aa ASMedia Technology Inc.:Name: ASM1051E SATA 6Gb/s bridge, ASM1053E SATA 6Gb/s bridge, ASM1153 SATA 3Gb/s bridge, ASM1153E SATA 6Gb/s bridge
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 174c:2074 ASMedia Technology Inc.:ASM1074 High-Speed hub

That´s when connected to the AS5304T. When connected to the Linux Box these are the signs:

Bus 002 Device 002: ID 174c:3074 ASMedia Technology Inc.:ASM1074 SuperSpeed hub
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 174c:2074 ASMedia Technology Inc.:ASM1074 High-Speed hub

The controller in question is probably this one - https://www.asmedia.com.tw/product/3Eey ... 5SX9YT1zy8

One observation: The AS6004U has a feature that puts it in sync with the mother NAS powerwise. When the NAS is in an active state, the enclosure is active. The front LEDs turn green and blue. When the NAS powers down, the LED on the AS6004U turns orange.

When I connect the enclosure to a device like my laptop or the Linux box, the light stays orange. So it probably needs some kind of command over USB to even turn on.

From what I've quickly gathered, it should be recognized by kernel 2.6 or newer, so recent Ubuntu 20.04, Debian 11 with kernel 5.x should work. But the you'll need to hunt the drivers for Windows. I don't have the device but you can start here https://winraid.level1techs.com/t/usb-3 ... dded/30871
AS5304T - 16GB DDR4 - ADM-OS modded on 2GB RAM
Internal:
- 4x10TB Toshiba RAID10 Ext4-Journal=Off
External 5 Bay USB3:
- 4x2TB Seagate modded RAID0 Btrfs-Compression
- 480GB Intel SSD for modded dm-cache (initramfs auto update patch) and Apps

Well I have that and it didn't register any differently on Linux than it did on Windows. Connecting it to the NAS is the only thing I can do that turns it on.

Instead of fencing in the dark I should probably ask support if there's any chance this box will ever function as a regular external USB enclosure.
