Surveillance server v2.8

Hi all.
I have installed Surveillance Center v2.8.0.12071 on my AS4004T (running ADM v3.5.6.RHA2).
Of course, I have no camera configured yet, so I started the application and then selected "Settings".
Nothing happens.
I only see an empty screen with 4 empty black areas. But no way to set up a camera.
So I cannot do anything with it...
Any hint?

?? You said "I only see an empty screen with 4 empty black areas. But no way to set up a camera." If you don't own a camera, how can you configure it?
Or what do you expect to configure?

By the way, if you press "Settings", it should show you more function icons.

I have an IP camera I need to configure. How do I do that if the config tab doesn't show any parameter to configure?

Only I don't get anything there.... See screenshot... Once I hit Settings All tabs get greyed pout and nothing is possible.
Could you please post a screenshot of whatever the settings are?

OK, that's abnormal. What browser do you use? You should try Chrome.
After press "Settings", you should see the following:

As you can see from screenshot mine is Google Chrome too.
I think I don't have any "Playback" because I still haven't anything yet to play back. Is my assumption correct?

I think I started understanding.
Surveillance server v2.8 only works with Windows 10.
You need to install a Windows-only "component" which weighs for 120 MB.
The component is a full-blown binary-only client to the surveillance server.
Under Windows 10, and that alone, the web UI behaves in a reasonable way.
Under Linux/OSX it doesn't work.
Under Android it doesn't work and shows an 8x8 (64!) live view even with no camera at all.

TBH, SS looks more like a toy application, not a serious product.
To name a few reasons:

1. In the 21st century we don't need any "component": Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Vivaldi, Opera etc. all allow for rich multimedia web UX/UI (as seen in Youtube and Zoom).
2. Limiting the support to Windows is nonsense. Same reasoning as above.
3. Ignoring the main mobile platform (70+%) is another nonsense (there's not even a dedicated app!).
4. The SS becomes unavailable in case the "component" software is not aligned in time with new Windows releases and patches.

I am returning the product to a normal NAS usage. Will look for something that can actually work as a surveillance server.
Any hint?

mm... I don't know. The software version is the same as mine. I think you should send a support ticket to asustor directly. https://support.asustor.com/
