On the Storage Manager -> Volume page there is a button labeled 'Spare Drive'.
I looked in the user guide but did not see a reference to it. What does it
mean to add a "spare drive" to an existing volume? What is a "spare drive"
exactly? There is also a 'Remove' button (I guess to remove a spare drive
that was added to a volume)? After you've added a spare drive can you simply
remove it at will?
TIA

Re: Storage Manager Spare Drive
It's a drive separate from your RAID array.

Re: Storage Manager Spare Drive
For example, you add a drive to your RAID-5 volume as a spare drive. When one drive of the RAID-5 volume failed, the failed drive will be removed and the spare drive will join this RAID-5 volume to re-sync the volume.
"Remove" means to remove the selected volume and you should lost your data.
