What is auto for under settings/network/general
Under settings/network/general. In the right hand panel is global settings. Default gateway says Lan 1 and if you click on it there is a drop down menu with Lan 1 and auto. What is auto for and what does it do? All replies would be appreciated and thanks for any help.

If your NAS equips 2 or more LAN ports, NAS should set gateway linked on a proper interface. The proper interface should be the one on the same LAN (as the gateway). If there are more interfaces on the same LAN as gateway, it can be any one that fits (I'll choose the first one).
