"cloudid" is your Asustor ID. You can check if it's setup and working correctly, under Settings->Manual Connect->DDNS.

Then open up the command prompt or terminal and test if this match your IP:
Code: Select all
nslookup Your-AsustorID.myasustor.com

If all is ok then you should be able to reach http(s)://Your-AsustorID.myasustor.com:8006.

I'm also having a problem connecting to my Asustor NAS via ezconnect. It was working fine until the OS was updated to 4.2.4RL82. No configuration change was done before and after the update. I thought ezconnect was a web relay service to bypass the need for port forwarding. Why do I need to open port on the router to make it work? It seems to me that people were talking about how to make DDNS work in this thread instead. Please help. Thanks.

Yes ezconnect is a relay to Asustor server without the need to forward your port but the connection will be slower. The additional troubleshooting guide was given in the previous post just to validate.

If you're specifically only trying to use ezconnect, first ensure your NAS is able to reach the internet. There's seems to be an issue in the previous firmware release where the NAS lost its gateway when doing load balancing. Think it's fixed in the latest 4.2.4.RL82 but I haven't tested further.

There's many ways to troubleshoot like using the browser's developer tools or terminal. Example here is using a terminal, if you do not have an existing Linux server, enable SSH in the Services > Terminal, then SSH into the NAS as admin port 22 using apps like putty. Then run the following, change the "YOUR-CLOUD-ID" to your Asustor ID:
Code: Select all
curl -i https://YOUR-CLOUD-ID.ezconnect.to/|grep relay_url|sed -r 's/.+"relay_url":"(.+)","cloud_id".+/\1/'|sed -r 's/\\//g'

You should see a link, copy that link into your browser see if you can reach to your NAS via the Asustor relay. If you see other than a link which is obviously some error, share them here.

IMPORTANT! Disable ad-blockers when using ezconnect

Postby stef70 » Mon Sep 18, 2023 11:07 pm

I am using Firefox and I was not able to connect via ezconnect. The page would search for a long time and eventually would give up.
At first, I believed that the problem was with IPV4 CGNAT (so IPV6 only) but in fact the solution was simply to disable my ad-blocker extension uBlock-Origin for the domain xxxxx.ezconnect.to
