AS6104T , Tv Tuners -and Asian Fonts

Post by alan_cam »

I'm not sure what is available, to do what I want.
I've looked through the Downloads at https://www.asustor.com/service/downloads?product_id=39 but most apps have descriptions like "If you want to..."
With 200+ apps, that's a lot of searching so I'm posting here instead.

My Goals:
1. SSD main drive, with 3 more in RAID 5.
Torrent app saving data to SSD, with transfer to RAID when complete. [Which app does bittorrent?]
Spin down RAID when not in use [low noise, low power]

2. External TV decoder on USB [PVR optional but nice]
My look at USB in the ASUS "sample" ADM shows support for printers, drives... but not TV tuners. Any advice?
Is TV support part of Plex / Kodi, or is it a driver issue related to the NAS itself?
Which app is most appropriate for TV support?

3. Watching Youtube on big TV screen [wife insists on this] :)
Caveat: her shows are THAI dramas and music, I need to search for Thai names like ขอใช้ทุกนาทีกับเธอ
How easy / hard is it to add Thai character support?

Answering my own questions, in case someone else wonders...

Kodi [a media player] has instructions on how to install support for international languages.
Check out: http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_languages_offline
Foreign language fonts [Thai in my case] are listed to the right.

Looks like Kodi will be my media player of choice when the NAS arrives.

EDIT: 16 Dec 2016 unit has arrived, I'm learning how to drive it.
Depending on my experiences, I'll try to write up a newbie's report and post it here.
