I'm trying to decide between the 304T and the 604T. The 604 has better specs, expandable RAM and more connection options.
One feature I require is the ability to transcode video on the fly to mobile devices. Is the 604T capable of sending transcoded video to Android or iOS devices? I understand the 304T is capable of doing this but please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks in advance.

1. I Think it depends on what you're transcoding with, ffmpeg or hardware.
2 The 304's hardware has decoding built in, but back to where you're transcoding with.
Most transcoding needs, I think, will need cpu, or a gpu if it's one usable in the box.
Listening in.

Thanks for comments, that's pretty much in line with what I thought.
It would be very helpful to hear from a member of the Asustor pre-sales team to get their thoughts on the matter.

Hi phillip101,
Yes the 604T can transcode video to mobile devices. However, at this time, the smoothness of the playback will depend a lot on the quality of the original video file. The 304T can do this as well.
Thanks for your question,
Allen
