Asustor AS5304T vs Asustor AS6404T
Which one should I buy, the Asustor AS5304T or Asustor AS6404T?? They are both the same price after upgrading the Asustor AS5304 to 8gb of ram. It will be used for the home. I like the display on the AS6404T. Please help me with this decision, I want to purchase one soon. Thanks.

AS5304T is the next generation of Intel CPU (compared to AS6404T). Both CPU and graphics engine are better. If I were you, I'll select AS5304T. However the outlook is different. One is plastic, the other one is metal. If you prefer the outlook of AS6404T, you can select AS6604T (which supports M.2).

I bought the AS5304T as you suggested. I used 2 16tb hard drives and used 2 1tb ssds for the cache. What do you think of that setup? Am I wasting the ssd's on a cache?
Much appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

If I were you, I won't enable cache. Nowadays, one normal disk bandwidth is around 200MB/s which is near to network 2.5GbE. If you enable RAID function, the bandwidth should be higher than network interface. If I were you, I'll setup as following:
- Create volume-1 using SSD (slot-1).
- Create RAID-1 volume-2 using disks (slot-2 and slot-3).
- When you run out of volume-2, you can buy another disk (slot-4) to migrate to RAID-5 to expand your volume-2 capacity.

Will I retain the data when I move the 2 hard disks? How will the SSD be utilized? Thanks

Yes, your data is retained when capacity expansion (adding the 3rd disk). You can even access your data when expansion process is still on-going.
Your SSD will be data volume-1 in this case.
