External SSD Cache

Post by Marhk »

With all the ports on a 70 series unit there should be a way to add SSD drives externally and configure them as a Read/Write cache. How?
I don't wish to diminish the overall capacity of the unit by adding SSD's to internal slots. Since I plan to use RAID 10 I would have to take 2 slots out of service for the SSD's.
Is there a terminal command that will allow the above configuration?

Thanks

External USB3.0 only 5Gb/s for SSD Cache. PCIe (NVMe) 8Gb/s x4 or SATA 6Gb/s x4 ssd performance. I think that is no good idea...
If use USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gb/s, max 700~1000MB/s) for SSD Cache. That is good idea.
ASUSTOR Lockerstor Pro support USB 3.2 Gen 2 two ports in last year newsletter.
