Looksgood 2.0 and support for VLC versions newer then 2.2.1

Post by Kapitein Haak »

I would like support for VLC versions higher then 2.2.1. I installed LooksGood 2.0, VLC 2.2.4 and no go in firefox (claiming it needs VLC installed, version 2.2.1). Apparently version 2.2.1 of VLC is hardcoded in the application, which is blocking newer versions of VLC. If you are brave and want newer versions of VLC running with LooksGood 2.0, then you need to modify 2 values in an application file.
This procedures assumes basic knowledge of ssh, winscp; if you lack these, either google for more info or wait for a more robust version of LooksGood 2.0.
- Start winscp, connect to your NAS and navigate to /volume1/.@plugins/AppCentral/looksgood/webman/asplayer/js
- Download the file asplayer.min.js (and make a copy of this file)
- Edit the file (preferably with notepad++ or directly with WINSCP), replacing the text 2.2.1 with the version of VLC which is installed on your PC (mine has the latest VLC, 2.2.4)
- Save the file on your NAS and retry LooksGood
It should now work with your own version of the VLC player.
