I bought my NAS drive with the intention that I would be able to host a GIT repository server on it where I could access projects from devices around my home or outside of my house. Being a "linux based" system I assumed this would be easy, unfortunately I have found more difficult than it should be.
I cannot get my NAS to allow a new user (git) to communicate via ssh which I read in the manual is due to security reasons. I would like to request that, along with admin and root, the user 'git' be on the AllowUser list using a restricted git-shell to prevent any security concerns.
Ultimately I would like to end up using git over ssh with ssh-keys for secure password-less connections.
It is possible on other NAS devices as shown here:
https://forum.synology.com/enu/viewtopic.php?t=73064
along with my raspberry pi.
Thank you for considering my request.

Re: GIT host access via SSH
There hasn't been a lot of employees on the forum lately. So I'm going to recommend you create a ticket with http://support.asustor.com and link this post to the ticket. You aren't the first to ask for something like this. Just the most recent.

Hey MikeG
Thanks for the advice, I have now raised a ticket (though I forgot to link to this) and now have a ticket number.
I've also had a response stating that my request will be "evaluated".
If I'm not the first to ask for something like this is it reasonable to say I'm unlikely to get it?
I would have thought that if several people have requested this it would be an "in demand" capability worth adding?
