AS4004T: Possibility to activate a monthly timer

Post by huste511 »

It is possible to activate tasks only once a month. For example, a sector check or a SMART scan. Or you would like to backup the NAS only once every 14 days or once a month.

That's what you want to do at night and away from office hours. Although you can schedule tasks only once a month, it is not possible to switch on the NAS by a timer on a specific day of the month.

It would be nice if this would be possible.

Hi,

cron (task managed on date / time schedule) is do for this ...
... use crontab to add your own request (command or complex shell script)

Hi!

I used to work on web servers with cron a long time ago.

If you suggest this, can you explain exactly where and how this is done on this NAS?
Link?

With SSH login on the NAS? Same user and pw as the surface?
Which paths and commands are necessary for startup up and down?

Cron is left alone or even overwritten by the NAS itself?

But I still think that if you provide the user with a monthly task plan, you should be able to start and shut down the NAS accordingly.
