Request CP210x driver in base install

Post by Plasmoid »

It would save me a ton of time if the cp210x driver was included as a module in the default builds. It's already included in the Linux kernel, you just have to turn it on.

I'd be happy to send you a patch to the kernel config you already provide. You'd just have to apply it and ship it.

Fully agree. It seems that the only person with enough knowledge to compile the driver is Philippe, and several people (me included) are anxiously awaiting. I'm attempting to spin up an Ubuntu virtual machine of the same kernel to try and compile the driver with the source code provided by Silicon Labs (https://www.silabs.com/developers/usb-t ... cp-drivers), but I'm having some issues with the VM.

I also have issues with several kernel modules obviously after the kernel upgrade. Need to wait for Asustor to release the GPL sources for the latest kernel 5.13. They are very reluctant to implement most suggestions even though it's already implemented out of the mainline into stable, I had couple of requests long ago, it just went to the engineers without any news.
