bzip2 service causing extended high CPU usage

Ever since purchasing my AS5304T, and I think also with my AS6104T, the NAS occasionally falls into a mode where 2-4 instances of the bzip2 service run continuously for long periods of time. Each instance uses ~25% CPU, and if three or more are running, it causes 80%+ CPU usage. I've seen this behavior last for a full 24 hours if I let it go. Has anyone else seen this and know how to prevent it from happening?
