Atmos to Soundbar (No AVR)?

Post by BCYHInfo »

"The AS5202T features HDMI 2.0a with 10bit 4K hardware decoding... use Plex Pass or a third-party player to play 4K HDR videos."

Any recommendations for 3rd-party player to play TrueHD/Atmos HDR/Dolby Vision content directly from NAS through HDMI?

TV: Sony X850G (Android TV 8.0)
Soundbar: Sony HT-ST5000 (support Atmos)
Connection: Thru HDMI eARC ports between TV and soundbar, with HDMI cable with High Speed Internet.
ADM:3.4.5.RBJ3
FFmpeg:3.3.2.r13 (Not yet roll back to 3.3.2.r11)
ASUSTOR Portal App: OpenPHT 1.8.0.R03 or Kodi 18.0.0.R2 (Big thx to Patrick viewtopic.php?f=98&t=10451)
Android TV Client: Plex 7.24.3 (Android TV) or Kodi 18.4 (Armv7a)

When playing media content from pre-installed Netflix Android TV app, the TV setup shows HDR or Dolby Vision; the soundbar shows Dolby Atmos.

1) Streaming from NAS --> TV --> Soundbar.
When using Android TV clients, with or without Pass-Through, the TV gets HDR or DV but soundbar shows Dolby Digital Plus on its information display.

2) HDMI from NAS --> TV --> Soundbar.
With using Portal App, with or without Pass-Through, the TV doesn't have HDR nor DV; soundbar displays DDP.

3) HDMI from NAS --> Soundbar --> TV.
With using Portal App, with or without Pass-Through, the TV doesn't have HDR nor DV; soundbar displays LPCM. NAS is on heavy load and can't play video smoothly.
