OK, added the HDD (WD Red Pro 8TB) but it is showing as Inactive.
This is a new, unused drive.

The corresponding Green light is blinking, although sometimes it remains solid.
Do I need to format it? If so, where do I find that option, as I can only see format options for external drives.

Hmm you seems to have the same issue as this post here https://forum.asustor.com/viewtopic.php ... 971#p43861.

Does it show any file system such as EXT4? Sorry I can't test it on my NAS because my bays are filled with RAID10.

I'm curious too, you can open a ticket with Asustor support or I can help to take a look if you want. Let's do a remote session later using any method you prefer, AnyDesk, TeamViewer, Google RD or similar. Just let me know when and which to connect. I'm in the GMT+8 time zone probably have some time after dinner.

Hi Nazar. Thanks for the offer to link up.
I'm going to be away for the next couple of days, so have raised a support ticket.
If they find a solution, I'll update.
I removed the drive and put it into another bay, but it was the same.
As for file system, I can't find where that information is. It's not in the Storage Manager app.

Support replied to me and have resolved the issue.
It appears that when adding a drive, you have to create a volume.
I was advised to go to Storage Manager and select Create a new volume or create a new MyArchive.
I chose to create a new volume and all is working OK now.

Yes, simple when you know how :D

Now, having added the new HDD, I moved some files from my original drives that form a RAID 1.
However, even though I deleted the moved files from the source, I do not see any increase in available space.
Neither can I see a trash can to empty.

I can't see the original files on the source HDD, so why do they appear to be taking the space they once occupied?

Yes, I wasn't able to check because my 4 bay is full.

The space will be update once the scanning is refreshed. Frankly I don't rely on this, it's more accurate to check from the terminal console.

Thanks.
I thought the reclaimed space would show immediately, but I will check at a later date.
