Hi everyone,
I have AS5304T. I have caught a strange glitch. To be exact, I have "caught" it before, a couple of times, but now I have been able to observe/study it in detail. Although I still do not understand anything.
I have several applications ASUSUTOR on my smartphone, for managing NAS, for viewing and managing files, for copying and viewing photos, for managing the Download Center.
At first, the backup photos (AiFoto 3) began to scream in the background on my smartphone that it could not connect to the server. The third time I tried to open the application myself, but no way. AiMaster, AiData, AiDownload - the same thing: can not connect to the server. I tried to log in through the web interface - no way! I have a WiFi adapter connected and I have another IP on my NAS - no way! Nothing opens. I tried SSH - I'm in! Everything seems to be fine, everything works, processes are running! But why I can not enter through the previous methods - it is unclear. I attached screenshots of commands top and htop. NAS wasn't used at that time, media-server for watching movies wasn't used, bunch of processes pgupload.cgi - it must be the service of copying pics from smratphone. Tried to kill them kill -9, but it didn't help much.
In the end I rebooted my NAS with the reboot command.
What was it? What options are there in telnet/command line Linux, to understand the cause of this glitch?
The list of installed programs/services is minimal in my opinion, I attached it too.

mm... It's totally new for me. I guess it's caused by your network environment. What do you mean about "I have a WiFi adapter connected and I have another IP on my NAS"? You'd better to describe your network settings of NAS, PC and phone.

Re: NAS services hangs up
I have 3 network connections for my NAS - 2 wired and 1 wireless. 2 Ethernets are agregated in Active-Backup mode. Smartphone was connected via the same WiFi network. IP adreses are assigned via DHCP server on router with Address Reservation by MAC address.

I believe that is the problem. You should remove the WIFI dongle on NAS. WIFI AP should be the function on your router (or connect to your router).VasiliyM6 wrote:I have 3 network connections for my NAS - 2 wired and 1 wireless.

Re: NAS services hangs up
I don't use NAS as Access Point. I use WiFi connection to the network as backup for wire one, because I had another issue previously - viewtopic.php?f=228&t=11887orion wrote: WIFI AP should be the function on your router (or connect to your router).
Moreover this issue happened couple of time before I installed this WiFi dongle

mm... Anyway, as I know, it could result in the problem you mentioned in your network environment.VasiliyM6 wrote: Moreover this issue happened couple of time before I installed this WiFi dongle

Hi,
As "Orion" write ... I think also it's a network configuration problem
and associate to your previous problem you can check
... cables
... verify if end point support same "active backup" ... to gain performance ... perhaps you can move to "Aggregate" if end point support it ... active backup, can on any error, verify the backup and down the link ...
... using command line tools (ip, netstat (use Entware version more complete), ifconfig) ... to verify :
... ... error on link or ip, configuration of the gateway and route, etc.
... ... I don't know how Asustor smartphone tools connect them to the NAS ... if it's a 2 way ... route and gateway can be the reason of the failure
... use tcpdump (Entware) to get information when your smartphone try to connect to the NAS
etc.
If you don't think to have the skills to do it ... a good idea is to call the support and to open for a small time your ssh connection (change the password just for the time of support connection)
Philippe.

Re: NAS services hangs up
orion, father.mande, Thank you for your advises, I will definnetly simplify current network configuration. NAS is connected directly to the router (Netgear R7800). And this router does not support aggregation. I thougth that Active-Backup aggregation is universal solution and could be used with any router. But looks like I'm wrong

Re: NAS services hangs up
The network simplification didn't help. Even with single network connection I got the NAS services hanging. Again - all network services were availabel:SSH, Download Center, netstat showed ports and connections, etc.But none of the ADM services were accessible through mobile apps or a Web browser. I was able to get PUSH messages in mobile application - for exmple I added torrent-file Smart Download folder, It was downloaded by Download Cener and I get notification via AiDownload. But I can't open the mobile application itself (AiDownload) as well se via Web-browser.
I've raised ticket via Asustor Support
