[myHD 2.x] how connect terminal inside myHD Ubuntu env.

Post by father.mande »

Hi,

A set of possible access exist to enter as root or user in the myHD Ubuntu env.

From a terminal connected as root / your_admin_password in A.D.M.
myHD_root ... enter as root using namespace enter (so not tty even it's at 99% not a problem) NO password require
myHD_astr ... same but you will be astr (the user managing Openbox/Idesk and applications) NO password require
myHD_user USER_NAME ... same but you select an existing user in myHD Ubuntu env. NO password require

myHD_ssh_root ... root but using SSH so you get a tty NO password require due to keys exchange managed by myHD
myHD_ssh_astr ... (same as ssh_root but astr)
myHD_ssh_user USER_NAME ... EXCEPT for root and astr ... password of the user are required.

From a terminal connected as normal or admin user (so no root UID=0 privileges) OR for any system in your LAN (ex. putty on Windows, or ... on Mac or ssh on Android, etc.
ssh -p 6222 user@localhost|IP_of_the_NAS (user can be root or astr or a defined user by you) PASSWORD is REQUIRE Port is the default 6222 or changed by you using : myHD set_sshd_port PORT

From internet
redirect the port use by internal myHD Ubuntu ssh server using EZ-Router (in A.D.M. WebUI) or upnpc-shared if you are a confirmed Linux guy.
security : change the default port , change password for astr and root (enter using myHD_root and use passwd command as in any Linux box)

Workaround if tty is require to do somethings but you are connected without ssh (myHD_root or astr or ... for ex.)
myHD provide 2 tools inside myHD Ubuntu Env.:
/myHD_scripts/bin/addtty.py ... so this change to bash and generate an attached tty leaving using exit and return to previous connection.
/myHD_scripts/bin/addtty_exec_cmd.sh [command and args] ... same but executing command and returning to previous session at end of the command
