Same as Gdrive/Onedrive etc or not?

Through built-in EZ Sync Manager of ADM 3.2 and ASUSTOR EZ Sync for computer, data from computer can be synchronized to the NAS at any time from anywhere.

Same as Gdrive/Onedrive etc or not?

Post by 2fa642@mailbox.org »

Behaviour is not stated anywhere in the very brief info about EZ Sync.

Google Drive/Onedrive etc REMOVE files from the Windows PC (to save space) after successful upload/sync with the 'cloud' but keep them in the file list.

My question is does EZ Sync also remove uploaded files from the Windows PC after successful sync/upload OR does a 'sync' stupidly try copy ALL files stored on the NAS folder to the Windows client folder?

TIA

Should give you some more detailed information - https://www.asustor.com/online/College_topic?topic=228

You can set up the sync as 2-way (changes made to files on either are synchronised on the other), PC to NAS (only changes made to files on the PC are synchronised on the NAS), or NAS to PC (only changes made to files on the NAS are synchronised on the PC).

So if you want to delete your files on your computer after they are uploaded to the NAS you would use PC to NAS, delete the task, delete files, then NAS to PC. This won't sync new or changed files on your computer, so using Backup Plan seems like a better idea for something like this.

EZ Sync acts more as an actual backup with file history and remote access than the OneDrive approach of 'move your files somewhere else and create shortcuts to download them when needed'.
