Not sure that could be it.

Is there bootable partition on your USB drives? You can also try to use a Ubuntu installer on a USB stick see if it tries to boot.

Try, plug in a monitor/TV and keyboard then restart your NAS whilst keep hitting the DEL key (not sure which key is for your NAS). If you manage to get into the BIOS/UEFI, there's a boot sequence settings. I suggest don't change anything else because the NAS might not even boot.

I've just run some tests. Another pendrive works fine.
Took another HDD 2.5'', cleared partitions, put it in HDD case and into my NAS - works fine.
And yes - my "original" HDD i've used befor have 4 partitions (including boot partition i suppose - it was used in other laptop with win10 on it.).

Looks like this is causing my problems?

Looks like that's the issue after all which is supposed to be normal. The NAS is similar to PC/Laptops that you could boot from USB unless of course you disable it from the BIOS.

So "boot from USB" is normally on on Asustor BIOS? And USB is in first place and then internal HDD's?

I'm currently copying my data to antoher HDD. Then i prepare "oryginal" HDD, erase boot partitions. I'll let you know if that works for me.

Yup, so recovery can be done easily if the OS fails to boot, else you would have to swap the internal disks to somehow fix the OS.
