Thanks Nazar78.
I did report it. They've tried to fix it via SSH but failed by now :(

Few answers from support:

"the issue can be linked to a 3rd party app"
"The ADM file's system is probably defective"
"a process can't be killed . so i can repair it now
a colleague of the HQ will have a look monday "

Which 3rd party app? Perhaps a defunct zombie process, you can see with top or htop with Z in the status column.

Yes that's the one. It's definitely a bug in ClamAV. I would uninstall then restart the system if I were you. I'm not using any AV on the NAS as it introduced additional taxing on the resources (CPU/RAM/Bandwidth), in fact I'm not using AV on any of my systems, even have the default AV disabled in Windows. I'm not implying AV is bad but If you really need AV scanning, just run it from the host of the mounted shares i.e. in Windows although this will use some of your NAS bandwidth and of course resources from the host itself.

Well Nazar78 - you're the best!
Uninstalled ClamAV and done two restarts - without any problems.
So i've updated ADM to newest version. I took couple of minutes. And... it works well!
No more AV in my life ;)
Thank you!

Hi again... :(
Some news: my NAS won't boot when an external 2,5'' HDD is plugged via USB port :!: Maybe AV was no problem.
I think someone on this forum had the same problem with external HDD but i can't find this thread now.
How can i make external backups, when i'm not able to use the HDD's ;(

I have x4 3.5" HDDs (in RAID5) and x1 2.5" SSD all connected to the NAS USB via enclosure. Also occasionally I have a 2.5" WD MyPassport 2TB plugged in. No issues at all during rebooting.

Perhaps yours is compatibility issues or some process holding onto the external disk mount preventing it to dismount and reboot. Try safely eject the USB drive before reboot.

You can search my previous post, I'm overseas now on mobile, I've shared something to intercept the reboot/shutdown process by force after a certain period the system didn't respond.

It says "Cannot remove drive. It's used by a process (ref. 5012)". Any idea how to check which process is blocking my external HDD?
EDIT: when I plug a pendrive into USB port, NAS still won't boot after restart  Even if i safely remove ext drive it still won't boot.

Install lsof from Entware repo via the App Central, then using root or sudo:

Code: Select all

opkg update && opkg install lsof
Then also using root or sudo, look for any process that has acquired a lock on the mount of your external disk i.e.:

Code: Select all

lsof 2>/dev/null|grep USB
The NAS occasionally doesn't restart hang at boot so I'm not sure if this is similar to your issue or not. If it is, you can look for my workaround mentioned in the previous post else you should report it to Asustor Support.

Hi - sorry for my absence.

I sent my NAS to the seller - he send me another NAS. And i have the same problem. NAS won't boot with HDD or pendrive pluged into USB
Done the fresh initialisation and it happens again.

Without external drive it works like a charm. Maybe there is something like boot order in this NAS? Maybe it's trying to boot from USB?
