Just in complement for PlexMediaPlayer ... take care of the "fourCC" value for your codec in movie

Plex ignore some code even the encoding is correct
... using for ex. the tests files "Big Buck Bunny" some files with similar codecs but not exact fourCC are played with software and not with hardware acceleration
... ex. X264 vs. H264 etc.
... perhaps on last version it's changed ... but I remember to have lot of surprise and sometimes conversion require (for nothing) ... even the file have the correct encoding but not the searched (by Plex) fourCC

It's just an advice, perhaps you never fall in this case ...

Thanks again for the information. I've looked through all the possibilities and the closest is Kodi 18.0 but the frame rate is still not smooth in h265 even with 24fps 8bit. Looks like I need to wait for this Nimbustor4 to mature which is quite shameful to advertise as 4k h265 10bit capable NAS.

Recently there's a new PMP update for my Tizen 5 Samsung TV and the 4K h265 dlog 10bit 100mbps plays very smoothly. Think I'll stick to this for now.

Problem is known NAS is a Linux box with Xorg ... and use an Integrated Graphic Processor that are NOT a dedicated graphic decoder as you can get in some TV box or TV or media box
But normally they can do the job ... so this require some analyse (performance and bottleneck)
unfortunately I own only one NAS without HEVC support ... AS5002T

Please, first, use and get display information in Kodi or PMP (during playback) to get how your file is view and used. and provide log file and Kodi / PMP version (and origin if it's not from myHD)
