So the lack of video content I haven't been able to fix, might it be related to the lack of ffmpeg ?
At least here and here ffmpeg are the cause of no content listings.
Come'on Asus you guys want to sell more NAS right ?
Serviio on Asustor would be a great addition and a sticky thread in the Serviio NAS forums like Synology/QNAP have pointing out how easy it is to install Serviio would net you a few more customers.

Yep, I've seen that too and I guess it's because of the lack of ffmpeg. The log will tell you what it's missing.Taxman wrote:So the lack of video content I haven't been able to fix, might it be related to the lack of ffmpeg ?
And about ASUSTOR providing that app: It's really about having enough resources. It's the same with QNAP and Synology only that the exist longer may have a bigger community. The wishlist of apps of user is quite long I assume and they focus on ADM 2.2 at the moment I assume.
I'm sure I'll get around to compile the ffmpeg which Serviio recommends in the next few weeks and then I'll let you know.

Re: Serviio on Asustor
The no video was a deal breaker for me at this point, that's 99.9% of what I'm using the DLNA server for. Twonky was WAY faster too, but it's licensed so 30 days until you need to cough up $20. It was nice, about as configurable as Serviio in most ways. More than UPNP for sure. Much of the extra in Twonky and Serviio seemed more related to extra Metadata and external access, similar to Plex, reducing it's value in my case.
Asustor seems to be focusing on maintaining their apps and slowly adding more. Sometimes where there is duplication or overlap (UPnP1/2/Plex/miniDLNA/Twonky/Serviio) they seem to be more focused on fixing or updating their current apps rather than adding others. That said, they themselves don't need to be the ones to create/submit the packages. What is stopping Twonky or Serviio from compiling the package and submitting/maintaining their apps themselves? In a way this is like asking Microsoft to recompile Flash, Itunes, or any other 3rd party program to run on their Windows Phone or 8RT. Asustor has made the platform and some base set of apps. They've also provided the tools to create or convert apps to their platform.

Re: Serviio on Asustor
Thanks for the assist MrK, unfortunately the log location is missing, a config folder and log4j.xml file are not present, they appear to normally exist in a higher level folder of Serviio under source but the apk just creates a web\serviio holding the contents of the www folder.
Maybe of some use or not I'm no coder but this guy has covered his process in compiling for x86 synology, maybe it their are some tips of use with asustor. Also some version of ffmpeg complied for asustor exists in this Twonky apk.

You'll find the logs and config in /usr/local/AppCentral/serviio/{config,log} . The web/serviio folder you mentioned is the /user/local/AppCentral/serviio/web folder which is automatically mapped from ADM to make it possible to access the interface using <IP>/serviio

You're right I did include a vanilla ffmpeg in my Twonky APK. It's worth a try to just include this ffmpeg build as the first step.

Re: Serviio on Asustor
I updated the Serviio package (third post in this thread) and it now got latest ffmpeg 2.2.2 included. This ffmpeg does _not_ include libass (for hardcoded subs) and librtmp (streaming) since I couldn't the it compiled with them - tried for hours :/

Re: Serviio on Asustor
Absolutely fantastic thank you MrK that build works perfectly, tried it out and everything works, no need for subtitles so that doesn't bother me.
One tip to anyone else installing, the app auto enables after install but it doesn't quite work properly so you should disable it then re-enable it and then it starts working.

Hello MrK,
Ffmpeg can be compiled with transcoding for an evansport device (AS3/AS2 series). More information on the person who compiled it can be found here: http://forum.serviio.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=16921. Maybe you can also get the other remaining options compiled for asustor.

I'll give it a spin as soon as he publishes the steps to compile the whole shebang. Sounds like a big pile of pain to get it done - I spend hours and hours to get some lib to work. But impressive work he's done.
