I feel rather helpless right know. I have just had the NAS 304T fore a couple of days and now I am stuck
I want to create a backup plan and steps through instruction NAS_253.
When I come to step 3 "Scan the network for a NAS" it does not find any!
A little surprising since I can see the NAS from my PC sitting in the network.
Any hints are valuable, probably it is something very simple.
Cannot create a backup plan

Re: Cannot create a backup plan
Sorry, why should I enable an FTP-server?
I have three PC's with Win7 hooked up together with the NAS in the same threaded network. The purpose is just to back up the PC's regularly to the NAS and then provide storage space and availability for a lot of film and music.
Just a "standard" home network.
FTP-server will probably be a further functionality but not now.
Right now I am just trying to understand the system and back up the first PC.

I can find my NAS on step-3 without problems. What's your backup plan version? And are your PC and NAS on the same local network (on the same wired ethernet switch)? Did you try "ASUSTOR Control Center" in Win7?

I agree with Orion. they must be in the same local network and same working group. eg "Workgroup"orion wrote:I can find my NAS on step-3 without problems. What's your backup plan version? To create a backup plan, you can use this
Storage: AS7004T & AS5002T
Network: FREEBOX REVOLUTION V6
Laptop: Apple MACBOOK Pro OS X El Capitan & Windows 10
Media Player: ASUSTOR NAS with Kodi 16 Beta & HD_Engine 1 (thanks Fathe_Mande)
Portable: iPhone 6S Plus, iPad Mini 2 & iPad Air

Re: Cannot create a backup plan
Orion and Damien,
Yes, I am using the Win7 computers and the NAS in the same local network.
Yes, I have the same working group name on all devices.
The Backup Plan software installed on my Win7 computer is version 1.1.2.4220.
It is when I use this software it cannot find my NAS. (Step 3 in the procedure.)
Damien,
The link that you gave me just points to the Backup Plan software that I am already running.
One thing that I am thinking about is that I have not given any value for "WINS SERVER" in the field below "WORKGROUP" in the App SERVICES/CIFS.
Could that be the problem?
Actually I dont know what to write in that field.
My router is a Dlink-655 and on the network it is named Xtreme N GIGABIT Router and it has an IP adress as well.

My Backup Plan version is older and is working fine. Did you try "ASUSTOR Control Center"?Rosenkavaljeren wrote:Orion and Damien,

You may post more detailed information here that I can help to check:
- In Win-7 command prompt, type "ipconfig"
- NAS IP address, IP mask and gateway?
