Backup Plan to USB uses all space

Post by toyshop »

Hello,
I have a USB 5tb drive that was reformated to ExFat to use as an external backup. I set up the plan to backup 2.4 tb with incremental backup and it ran a couple times but now says the drive is full. Connected it to a computer and the drive reads that it is about half full. In Austor it says 0.00b of 4.55tb free. Why is this and is there a way to have it work correctly. I never had this problem with my QNap.

I don't own the environment as yours. I'll recommend you to send a support ticket to asustor directly. https://support.asustor.com/

This has happened to me too, makes the feature pretty much useless. Have 14TB HDDs on my NAS (about 10TB used) and backing up to a 14TB identical USB drive. First sync worked with 10TB, but second sync after small file changes resulted in filling the 14TB external drive (formatted exFAT). Seems like an obvious bug in their software.
