Failed to load VMMR0.r0 (VERR_SUPLIB_WORLD_WRITABLE)

VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Not only is VirtualBox an extremely feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the only professional solution that is freely available as Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2.

Failed to load VMMR0.r0 (VERR_SUPLIB_WORLD_WRITABLE)

Post by eightace »

I think it is a file permissions problem. Anyone able to help? Using 2.6.0 beta and VirtualBox 4.3.36.r02

Hi,

Please ... NEVER POST this type of output :D ... because it's not for more than 90% not enough to have the correct information

Provide the logs :
VBoxSVC.log in /root/.config/VirtualBox (or previous suffixed with .1 .2 etc. if you restart VirtualBox)
vboxwebsrv.log in the same folder IF you use phpvirtualbox (or previous)
and
for the specific VM
VBox.log in /home/admin/VirtualBox\ VMs/NAME_OF_THE_VM/Logs (ATTENTION to protect the space in "VirtualBox VMs" by an antislash "\"
or previous ...

In case of bad access right you can have more detail on which folder or file is responsible ...

Default current error for any VirtualBox (so not attached to a specific VM) is to be sure that /opt are limited in access right
do be sure (if you don't discover another error in logs ... if you search yourself ... )
open a console
cd /
chmod 775 opt

BUT generally logs contains a more detailed information .

please attach the files here or call the support ...

Philippe.

I tried to log in via ssh as admin and cannot change permissions of the opt folder.
Also only logs I could find I have attached.

Thanks

Hi,

This kind of error can exit :
With Windows 2012 64 bits VM ... solution is to change the VM to said it's a 2008 64 bits type
Also it can be exist on bad network configuration :
ex.
no promiscuous mode on ethernet and adapter bridge ... so perhaps the basic network is changed (please supply the VM config file (xml) and result of ifconfig and lsmod (to do in a console ... )

but also depend of VM configuration ... some USB peripherals ...

BUT clearly you can win lot of time by calling the support and open a ssh or teamviewer access for them.

Please try to get the VM logs as explain in my previous post (/home/admin ... etc ) BUT be attention on the space in the path name

Philippe.
