VirtualBox can not connect to interface bond0 (link aggregation)

VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Not only is VirtualBox an extremely feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the only professional solution that is freely available as Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2.

VirtualBox can not connect to interface bond0 (link aggregation)

Post by Caesar-NL »

I have set up link aggregation on my AS5202T. That means that the interfaces eth0 and eth1 are used as slaves for the virtual interface bond0, and bond0 is the only IP interface.

VirtualBox however can not see bond0. It can see the virtual interfaces bond1, bond2 and bond3, but those are not active, and can not be made active, so they can not be used.

Does any one know why this is, and what can be done about it?

I have asked the same question in the VirtualBox forum.

I solved the problem.

I opened a Putty session to the NAS , and submitted the command < ifconfig bond0 promiscuous > , and interface bond0 became visible in VirtualBox.
