VM dont start after Update 4.1.0.RLQ1

VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Not only is VirtualBox an extremely feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the only professional solution that is freely available as Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2.

VM dont start after Update 4.1.0.RLQ1

Post by Baladin »

Hi,

I have updated my ADM to 4.1.0.RLQ1. (Asustor AS6704T). After this, my VMs dont start.
I have configured the network to bridge adapter. At the start, I get the following error:

----------------------------------------------------
Failed to open/create the internal network 'HostInterfaceNetworking-eth0' (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND). Failed to attach the network LUN (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND). One of the kernel modules was not successfully loaded. Make sure that VirtualBox is correctly installed, and if you are using EFI Secure Boot that the modules are signed if necessary in the right way for your host system. Then try to recompile and reload the kernel modules by executing '/sbin/vboxconfig' as root (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND)

Maybe VirtualBox needs an update?

My AS6702T 2nd Gen only arrived yesterday, it immediatly updated to this release and now has exactly the same problem with Virtual Box.

Is there a way to downgrade to the previous release? I cannot find ADM 4.1.0.RKM1 on the site.

Will this fix the issue, at least until the latest release is fixed?

I got an answer from the support:

...
The issue was reported to our engineer team and they are doing their best to repair it

I got the same response.

Thanks for the info
For the issue mentioned, we do find there is issue with the virtual box app in our current software release.
The issue was reported to our engineering team and they are doing their best to repair it.
We'll have a software upgrade to resolve this issue in the future.
My apology for the inconvenience.

Currently, I don't have an estimated date for it.
But I think we could have the app update contain the resolution in one or two weeks.

Hi,

Asustor engineer seem to have include kernel patch but forgot to search the impact on all APKG using modules and function
At this day :
vboxnetflt and vboxnetadp kernel module are invalid
others kernel modules fail (crypto and net)
CIFS generate problem with SHA512 (crypto)
GPL source is not updated ... so modules can't be rebuilt ...

The problem is to understand the patch (crypto and or net) causing the fault ... unfortunately it's not "just delete it" ... because it's dangerous because known by all.

Philippe.

Finally!

Luckily my NAS is at home (primary use for entertainment) and the VMs are only used seasonally for work related experiments but it was hard not to have Virtualbox these days.
