Link /downloads to plex media library

How do most folks handle seeding and making files available to other apps, like Plex, without duplicating files?

I would like to make fully downloaded movies available in Plex, but don't see any way to "point" plex to my /downloads folder for qbittorrent. Perhaps a symlink? That shouldn't break anything, presumably. Is there a better way to do it? I'm ok with doing it manually because I also download non-movies, but perhaps tagging or categories in qbittorrent could be incorporated to identify the files that should be linked into Plex.

Currently, I copy the 7GB+ movie file from /downloads to my /movie directory which is a huge waste of space.
